A major project to revive the handloom sector in Mangalagiri, Guntur district, is being launched by the state of Andhra Pradesh. In order to give local weavers a steady source of income, S. Savitha, Minister of Handlooms and Textiles, has announced the creation of a mega handloom park.
The park, which is situated in Mangalagiri next to Auto Nagar, intends to give weavers year-round financial security. The Government will provide financial support to guarantee weavers have a year-round livelihood, Savitha said.
She added that weavers’ goods have been sold all throughout the nation for the last seven months. Additionally, she visited an 11-acre property in Mangalagiri where the park is supposed to be built.
