Groyyo commenced its operations in India in 2021. Co-founded by Subin Mitra and Pratik Tiwari, Groyyo was established with the vision of democratising the apparel manufacturing sector, an industry largely dominated by MSMEs. Groyyo began by addressing the core aspects of the apparel manufacturing industry, including a B2B platform for sourcing textiles and apparel from regions such as India, Bangladesh and Turkey, supplying to premium global brands. Additionally, Groyyo developed a comprehensive tech platform to manage orders, pre-production and production processes, ensuring transparency and efficiency between suppliers and brands.
During its time in the industry, Groyyo identified that MSMEs not only struggled with a lack of consistent and quality orders but also faced significant operational inefficiencies, making them less competitive. Unlike larger players who have the resources to maintain internal business excellence teams or hire consulting firms to optimise their operations, MSMEs often lack the necessary resources to do so. Recognising this gap in the market, Groyyo launched Groyyo Consulting to enhance the business operations of MSMEs, both within the textile and apparel sector and beyond.
Groyyo launched its consulting business by bringing on board industry veteran Abhishek Yugal, who brought with him nearly six years of consulting experience in India and Bangladesh, along with approximately 16 years of expertise in apparel manufacturing across India, Bangladesh and Vietnam. Groyyo Consulting began with manufacturing excellence projects in collaboration with its existing partner factories and simultaneously extended its services to other apparel manufacturers and retailers to explore synergies. Amongst the initial clients were Ellira Home Furnishings in Bengaluru and ND Gems in Nagpur, who entrusted Groyyo Consulting with a business excellence project and a plant start-up project respectively. Both clients experienced exceptional results, with performance improvements of nearly 60 per cent, making them some of the most satisfied customers.
The consulting team remained driven and determined to establish a strong presence in a competitive landscape dominated by established players managing most of the large-scale projects. Groyyo consistently worked to build a track record of success, continually exceeding client expectations. During this period, Swisscontact, an international development organisation operating in over 40 countries, initiated two significant projects: PROGRESS (Promoting Green Growth in the RMG Sector Through Skills), funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and BYETS (Building Youth Employability Through Skills), funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Both projects placed their trust in Groyyo Consulting.
PROGRESS aims to foster the development of an inclusive, environmentally sustainable and competitive RMG sector that provides secure and decent employment opportunities, particularly for women, while adapting to the evolving demands of the global market in terms of technology and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards. Groyyo collaborated with 4A Yarn Dyeing Ltd. (a TEAM group factory), Everbright Sweater Ltd., World Victory Enterprise, ST Village Sewing Ltd., and NPM Apparels Ltd., on this project, achieving notable results, including a nearly 22 per cent improvement in efficiency, over 50 per cent enhancement in DHU and a reduction in rejections by approximately 25 per cent, among other successes.
Meanwhile, BYETS seeks to empower 25,000 Bangladeshi youth (with at least 50 per cent being women) by equipping them with enhanced technical, employability and entrepreneurial skills and connecting them to income-generating opportunities such as jobs and self-employment in three key sectors: Ready-Made Garments (RMG), Agro-Processing (AP) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Groyyo has played a crucial role in this initiative, working with companies including Tarasima Apparels Ltd., Remi Holdings Ltd. (both from the Bitopi group), Karim Textiles Ltd., MG Niche Stitch Ltd., Vintage Garments Ltd., Hollywood Garments Ltd. (both from the Windy group), Pretty Sweaters Ltd., and Evitex Dress Shirts Ltd., among others. To date, Groyyo has been instrumental in training nearly 1,400 sewing machine operators through workplace-based training (WBT).
Throughout its journey, Groyyo Consulting continued to strengthen its team by adding experts from the apparel industry and other sectors, building a solid foundation of expertise. Simultaneously, the firm actively sought opportunities beyond the textile and apparel industries. Recently, Groyyo Consulting launched two new verticals: Agro-Processing and Learning & Organisational Development, with some work in India and Bangladesh. Geographically, Groyyo Consulting is also expanding its reach, with plans to begin operations in Vietnam and Myanmar during the second and third quarters of 2024-25.
Groyyo Consulting stands out for its thought leadership, industry expertise and relentless pursuit for innovation and excellence. With a vision to expand its influence, the firm is launching new consulting verticals in Retail and Agriculture, aiming to bring transformative solutions in these sectors. Additionally, Groyyo is boldly venturing into uncharted territories for Indian consulting firms, with plans to establish a presence in markets like Mexico and Turkey, further solidifying its global footprint.
