Not only giant apparel manufacturers of India, but medium level companies are also making quality PPE kits.
In a state like Uttarakhand, which is not known for apparel manufacturing, GBKC Fashions is the only SITRA- and DRDO-approved company producing premium PPE kits.
The Sedex-certified company, which is working with some prestigious Indian brands and overseas buyers, recently started the production of PPE kits and is now delivering the same throughout India.
“We immediately assessed the requirement of PPE kits due to this pandemic and sought permission from Government to start the production. We ordered heat seaming machines from South Korea and China for the taping on the coverall keeping all the pre-requisites in mind, says Ritesh Sapra, CMD of the company.
He added “It was a difficult task initially as the product is totally different from the usual apparels that we deal in but our team had put in all the hard work to gain the required knowledge. Our coverall is specially designed for universal fit that ensures full comfort of wearer and is in full conformity of specifications directed by Government.”
The company is mainly producing full body hazmat suit made of non-woven, spun bounded, PE-coated SITRA-passed fabric procured from SITRA-approved suppliers.
It has imported high quality 30 heat seaming machines of Nawon and H&H which are running throughout to meet their current demand. Currently producing 6,000 units of PPE per day, the company is geared up to increase the capacity in case the demand arises in future.
GBKC Fashions is also looking forward to export their product in various geographies including Europe and US. The organisation is working day and night so as to ensure all the compliances, which are required for exports, are in place.
“We started working towards meeting the compliance requirements as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Textiles swiftly and are now ready with all the required certifications and compliances for exports. We have also applied for US FDA approval in order to meet US market requirements. We have tied up with agencies for exporting our products and are just waiting for the export ban to be lifted by the Government,” said Vandeep Singh Ratra, Director and CFO of the company.
Situated in industrial area Selaqui, the company works with the professional approach and has state-of-the-art infrastructure with a continual focus on sustainability.
Last year, the company was recognised for its efficient energy management system and was awarded with ISO 50001 certificate from Nitin Gadkari, Minister of MSMEs and has made the league with first 50 MSME companies in India with this certification.
