The North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC), which is under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), has accomplished a noteworthy milestone by setting up the first textile testing facility in Northeast India to receive NABL accreditation.
Situated in the NEHHDC headquarters in Garchuk, Guwahati, this certification represents a significant progression in establishing exacting benchmarks for examination and quality control in the textile sector of the area.
“We’re proud to announce that the Textile Testing Laboratory at NEHHDC Head Office has become the first NABL-accredited facility in North East. This accreditation will raise the bar for textiles in Indian and global markets, unlocking endless possibilities for the region,” stated the North East Council in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The Northeast Region’s (NER) textile products will be of outstanding quality thanks in large part to the newly recognised laboratory. Because there was no facility of this kind in the area, weavers and producers had to ship their products to Kolkata for testing in the past.
The construction of this cutting-edge testing facility in Guwahati, Assam, signifies a substantial advancement by giving nearby producers and weavers quick access to top-notch testing services.
The NER would be given priority and empowered by this development, strengthening its position in the market. Accreditation provides official acknowledgement to qualified laboratories, assisting clients in locating trustworthy testing services for a range of purposes, such as reference materials, medical, calibration, and proficiency testing.
By guaranteeing the accuracy of testing and calibration reports produced by accredited laboratories, accreditation also increases client confidence.
