
During the Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave-2025 in the state capital, the State Government received investment intents of US $ 896 million in the textile and apparel sector.
The Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department announced that 36 firms have submitted investment intents, which might result in the creation of almost 88,000 direct and indirect job opportunities in Odisha.
During the summit, the State Government also inked six Memorandums of Understanding with important industry participants, such as Anubhav Knitwear, Pratima Agro Spinning Mills, Tillottama Proprietors, Arundhati Badhakala, Maa Banadurga Textiles Private Limited, Shri Maa Textiles, and Cedra Filtration.
On this occasion, two Memorandums of Understanding were also signed between the Textile Committee, SIDBI, and the Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Department.
The department hosted two sessions at the investors’ summit: Sericulture and Technical Textiles—Odisha’s Tryst with Silks and Sectoral Utilities and Odisha: The Emerging Destination for Textiles, Apparels, and Handlooms.
Speaking at the two sessions were Ministers Pradeep Bal Samant of Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts, Suresh Pujari of Revenue, Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia of Forest and Environment, and Nityananda Gond of School and Mass Education.
On this occasion, the updated Odisha Apparel and Technical Textiles Policy (OATTP) 2022 and its operating instructions were released. The updated rules and policies are intended to improve the industry’s overall competitiveness, encourage sustainable practices, and foster a climate that is more conducive to investment.
