State Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora announced on Wednesday that the Punjab Government had notified three committees focused on the textile industry to provide input on the new industrial policy. By doing this, the State Government hopes to increase investment and generate employment in the industry.
Arora announced that industrialist Rajnish Gupta would chair the dyeing and finishing committee, Sandeep Jain, Director of the Monte Carlo brand, would lead the clothing panel, and S P Oswal, the director of Vardhman Group, would chair the spinning and weaving committee.
He stated that the panel has been requested to provide recommendations by 1st October and that the creation of further committees would be disclosed when the time is right.
These committees’ main responsibilities will be to update the state Government on developments in the industry, draw in additional funding, and take the necessary actions to increase job possibilities.
Arora shared information about the committees, stating that each had eight to ten members. He added that these three committees will be coordinated by Ludhiana, the additional deputy commissioner (general), who will serve as their member secretary.
The creation of several industry-specific committees for industries like textile, IT, sports goods, machine tools, bicycles, and auto and auto components, among others, was announced by the minister on 17th July.
