
In the Rajanna Sircilla District of Vemulawada, the Telangana Government has decided to establish a yarn depot.
In order to establish a yarn depot for the power loom industry, the Commissioner of Handlooms & Textiles and Apparel Export Parks in Hyderabad has asked the Government to take the proposal under consideration, issue the necessary orders, designate Telangana State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society Limited (TGSCO) as the Nodal agency, and authorise a corpus fund of US $ 5.95 million to operate the depot for procurement and to store necessary yarn as buffer stocks.
A significant textile zone, Sircilla employs people directly or indirectly thanks to its decentralised power looms.
“After carefully reviewing the proposal, the Government of Telangana has approved the establishment of a yarn depot for the powerloom sector in Vemulawada, Rajanna Sircilla District. Telangana State Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society Limited (TGSCO) will serve as the depot’s nodal agency, and the Government has sanctioned a corpus fund of US $ 5.95 million to operate the depot using available funds from the Special B.C. Welfare Budget,” said a notice released by Shailaja Ramaiyer, Principal Secretary (Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts), Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Telangana.
The order states, “The order for sanction of budget will be issued separately.” AEPS, Hyderabad. The Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles will take further appropriate measures in this regard.
