The first manufacturing unit by South Korean apparel major Youngone Corporation has commenced commercial operations at the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), marking a significant step in Telangana’s ambitious “Farm to Fashion” initiative.
BRS working president and former Industries Minister KT Rama Rao hailed the development as a “proud moment for Telangana”, emphasising the importance of the project for the state’s industrial trajectory.
Ground was broken in June 2023 for 11 factory units under Youngone’s Evertop Textile & Apparel complex within KMTP. The initial unit is already exporting T-shirts to international markets, and its full deployment is expected to transform Warangal into a leading textile hub in India.
Youngone has committed to an investment of approximately Rs. 900 crore (US $ 101 million) to establish integrated textile manufacturing facilities over 290 acres in KMTP. The project is projected to generate over 12,000 direct jobs, with a larger number of indirect employment across supporting sectors.
The units will include woven and knitted garment manufacturing, processing, dyeing and finishing, technical textile operations and related facilities, primarily aimed at exports. In the first phase, four factories are expected to become operational, creating an estimated 6,000 jobs, while the remaining seven units will be rolled out in subsequent phases.
The project will reserve a significant share of job opportunities for local residents, especially women. Provisions are also anticipated for transportation support and daycare facilities to assist female employees.
