Walmart-owned e-commerce giant Flipkart on Wednesday announced that it is foraying into social commerce with its independent value platform, 2Gud that sells refurbished goods.
Aimed to widen the customer base and boost sales, the social commerce feature will be accessible to all app users. The platform will allow shoppers to have a video shopping experience with their favourite influencers showcasing the latest fashion trends, sharing beauty tips and more.
The influencer videos will appear on consumers’ screens as a feed categorised by various topics and areas of interest. Influencers will curate their favourite products and review them in their respective virtual stores.
Commenting on the launch, Chanakya Gupta, Head of 2Gud at Flipkart, said “We want the next 200 million customers to be able to experience social commerce comfortably and build their trust on 2Gud, as they come on to the platform for an engaging shopping experience,” adding that influencers are proving to be bringing great opportunities for social commerce platforms in the country.
Flipkart launched 2Gud in August 2018.
