PUMA, the German activewear giant, has launched its shopping app in India, making it the first country in the world where it will sell merchandise via its own app.
Cricketer and PUMA brand ambassador Virat Kohli took part in launching the app in India by making an official announcement across his social media handles.
Following the launch of its shopping platform in 2016, the sportswear manufacturer released its first shopping app in India.
Users will now be able to purchase sneakers, athleisure and accessories through the shopping app, which includes features such as virtual try-on and sophisticated 3D animations.
The PUMA app, designed specifically for the Indian market, will offer the brand’s latest drops, apparel and gear, as well as features such as quick login, efficient check-out and secure digital payments. Importantly, it will provide a faster, more seamless and convenient user experience.
Bjorn Gulden, CEO of PUMA, expressed his excitement about the launch, saying, “Given that India is a very digital-savvy market, where e-commerce has high penetration, we felt it was natural to launch the app here first. It will then be rolled out globally during the year.”
Commenting on the launch, Abhishek Ganguly, MD, PUMA India and Southeast Asia said, “The launch of the app is a decisive and a clear endorsement of our efforts to build and scale direct-to-consumer channel via the digital route. We aim to bolster our offerings and services to our consumers in the most seamless way, and the app is a step in that direction.”
