Max Fashion has outlined an ambitious expansion strategy in India, with plans to open between 40 and 50 new stores across the country over the next year, according to a senior company official.
The announcement comes as the retailer continues to strengthen its footprint in southern India, marked by the launch of its 34th store in Chennai and its 71st outlet in Tamil Nadu. The new store, located in Valasaravakkam, was inaugurated on Saturday by actor Kayadu Lohar.
Speaking on the development, Chief Executive Officer Sumit Chandan stated that Chennai remains one of the company’s most dynamic and culturally vibrant markets, adding that the new store reflects the brand’s continued commitment to growing alongside the city’s evolving fashion landscape. He further indicated that the upcoming outlets would adopt a new retail format, with some existing stores also set to be upgraded accordingly.
The newly opened store spans approximately 14,000 square feet and has been designed to offer a more spacious and structured shopping experience, with dedicated sections for men, women and children.
Regional Business Head Sathish Kumar noted that the latest opening marks a significant milestone in the company’s regional expansion, highlighting its growing presence across key cities in Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Nagercoil. He added that the company aims to scale up its network in the state to 100 stores over the next two years.
The expansion underscores Max Fashion’s broader strategy to deepen its reach in high-growth urban markets while enhancing in-store experience through updated formats and larger retail spaces.
