
An IPSOS poll conducted on behalf of Amazon revealed that about 50% of participants intended to increase their online spending during the approaching holiday season.
Nearly 7,263 respondents are said to have participated in the study, which was conducted in 35 locations between July and August of 2024, including the Delhi NCR, Allahabad, Lucknow, Mathura, Muradabad, Etawah, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Udaipur, Kolkata, and others.
Approximately 89% of participants conveyed their enthusiasm for the forthcoming celebrations, and 71% said they intended to shop online.
“Once again, almost half of the respondents who said they would shop online for the holidays said they would spend more than they did the year before.” The research added, stating that this is present in Tier-2 cities, constituting 43 per cent and also for metro area, constituting 55 per cent, having populations ranging between 10 and 40 lakh people.
One of the main reasons people shop online is convenience: 76% of respondents said they value being able to shop from anywhere at any time.
Some other key factors making customers shop online during festive seasons, the survey added were speedy delivery at scale, with 74 per cent of respondents, trust in online shopping events providing genuine products with 75 per cent of respondents and payment options like no-cost EMIs with 75 per cent of respondents.
