
Metro Brands, the Indian multi-brand footwear company, is in talks with US brand Foot Locker to brin it into the Indian market.
Foot Locker was also reported to be in discussions with four other potential Indian franchisees. The identities of these franchisees have not been disclosed.
Metro Brands, established in 1977, is among the largest footwear retailers in India. It operated around 598 stores in India as of September 2022, and includes brands such as Mochi, Davinchi, Crocs, Walkway and Fitflop in its portfolio.
For the past few years, Foot Locker has been expanding its presence in the Asian markets. The brand first entered Indonesia in 2021 before expanding into the Philippines. The brand opened its first store inside Manila’s Glorietta shopping mall in December 2022 via an exclusive partnership with Map Aktif Adiperkasa.
Foot Locker is a US-based retailer which retails activewear and footwear from brands such as Puma, Converse, Adidas, Nike, Vans and New Balance.
