Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu inaugurated the largest textile unit in the state at Pasighat (in East Siang district) on November 2.
Arunachal Pradesh has emerged on the industrial map of India with the inauguration of this garment manufacturing unit operated by ELAM Industries. The factory will create job opportunities for more than 100 people.
The north-eastern states of India, especially Arunachal Pradesh face lack of such facilities.
The arrival of the clothing unit in the state will help the manufacturers/suppliers as it will reduce the dependency of Arunachal Pradesh on the other states. It also paves the way for the state to emerge as an apparel manufacturing centre and subsequently result in further employment generation.
Setting up of the factories will also play a key role in the development of the region. Local industries in the state are looking for support from the Centre as well as the State Government.
The CM informed that the State Government is planning to frame an investor-friendly industrial policy to support the development of industries in the state in view of immense potential.
The inauguration of the garment unit is seen as a revolutionary move in the garment industry sector of Arunachal Pradesh.
