US-based leading global sourcing company MGF Sourcing is opening an office in India and will increase sourcing from the country, informed highly placed sources familiar with the matter to Apparel Resources.
With more than four decades of experience, Columbus-based MGF Sourcing has specialisation in apparels, footwear, accessories and other household goods.
As per the website of the company, it has offices in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Peru, Philippines, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Taiwan and Vietnam.
With more than 750 associates in 13 countries, its global team collaborates across categories and borders, supporting innovation and increasing flexibility and speed to market for its customers through its ability to provide design, distribution, production oversight and other manufacturing management services.
Sources also claim that Manisha Sood, who has worked for almost twenty years with Gap, will be heading the India office. Manisha, however, was not available to confirm this.
Apparel Resources has approached the company for details of its operations and plans, once the office is established, but as of now no official confirmation has come in. As and when we will get any response, it will be updated here only.
Meanwhile, industry sources shared that earlier MGF was sourcing a large chunk of its products from China, but now the company is looking at options in the region, as it wants to reduce its dependency on China.
