As the overall apparel and home furnishing export from India continues to grow and Covid cases around the globe keep receding, physical sourcing activities have also started increasing.
While buyers have started visiting Indian factories again, manufacturers and exporters have also, at the same time, started participating in international sourcing events.
Both kinds of activities are set to increase in the coming days.
The overseas buyers’ visitation has been increasing reasonably in last few days. In discussion with Apparel Resources, some companies shared that that the physical movement that started recently, is expected to grow in the coming days.
Nabarun Dutta, Business Head (Home Textile Division), Daks India Industries, Delhi told Apparel Resources that their US buyer visited them in recent days. The same was also echoed by few other export houses.
Reduced travel ban and ease in Covid-related restrictions have been cited as some of the major reasons for buyers’ visit. It is worth mentioning here that India has air bubble arrangement with 28 countries, including major apparel markets, like US, UK, France, Germany, UAE, etc.
It is also pertinent to mention here that apart from buyers’ visit to India, Indian companies have also started participating in overseas sourcing events that have started taking place again.
Notably, nearly 9 companies had participated in the recently concluded Apparel Sourcing and Texworld events. Also, Sourcing at Magic, US, which took place from 13 to 16 February, saw participation of 17 Indian companies.
Vimal Shah, President, Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan (GEAR) said that many exporters of Jaipur are geared up to participate in India Tex Trend Fair, Tokyo to be organised by The Japan India Industry Association (JIPA) from 14 to 16 March.
He added “As business is growing, we are hopeful that in coming days, buyer visitation will increase and overall efforts, increasing sourcing activities… export orders will increase further.”
