Andhra Pradesh (India) Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is expected to visit the Brandix apparel city at Atchyuthapuram in Visakhapatnam district later this month to assess the working and living conditions of the workforce there, especially the women.
According to the authorities, the CM is likely to bring an end to the agitations staged by the women workers, seeking a raise in the minimum wages from the present Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 per month.
The women workers at Brandix apparel park had stopped work for several days, but had resumed work after the authorities assured them that their issues will be addressed. However, the problem still exists, leading to widespread attention in the media.
Naidu is also likely to inspect other projects like those in the health city as well as the water supply to the Visakhapatnam steel plant, which has become a major issue in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The CM is also scheduled to be present at several other programmes during the day he visits Visakhapatnam.
