A subsidiary of diversified textile conglomerate Arvind Ltd., Arvind Envisol Pvt. Ltd., which is into manufacturing and marketing of zero water discharge and recycling solutions, recently held a road show in Ahmedabad to promote its products. The solution from Arvind Envisol helps achieve zero discharge in true sense as it enables to recycle 95-96% of the water. It also helps in recycling the huge amount of salts used in the textile process which otherwise is dumped in landfills.
While explaining the attributes and features of their zero water discharge equipment, Dinesh Yadav, Director at Arvind Envisol said, “Reserve osmosis process is commonly used in the industry. However, our solution helps in either complimenting or even eliminating the whole process of reverse osmosis since it even treats the 20% of liquid discharge which even reverse osmosis cannot treat.” The technology was developed after nine years of research by Finnish based scientists and brought to India by Arvind, which now has rights to over 22 patents related to the technology, which the company claims to be a game changer technology at an affordable cost. Revealing the manufacturing process, Dinesh explained, “We only import raw materials related to the machinery, while complete manufacturing of the exchanger is done by us in a plant setup in Chennai.”
Providing a cost comparison between conventional systems and the one from Arvind Envisol, Dinesh said, “The actual cost in treating water in a conventional treatment plant is anywhere between Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,200 per metre cube and not Rs. 600 as is understood. Against this, the solution from Arvind Envisol does not cost more than Rs. 200 per metre cube, which makes it affordable to operate.” This solution finds application in textile, pharma, paper, steel and other sectors and Arvind Envisol has even exported this technology to developed countries of the world.
