
In a shocking incident in Surat, an apparel factory’s former worker has been booked for allegedly setting the godown of the factory on fire.
The worker was expelled from the job just few days back as he was demanding higher piece rate.
As per the factory owner, the fire has caused him losses worth Rs. 78 lakh.
The police has started investigation following a complaint lodged by the factory owner.
The media reports quoted police saying that the fire broke out in the godown of Smart shop garment factory at Subham industries (Section 2) in Sarthana area of Surat.
The factory owner claimed that the CCTV footage showed that a few days ago one person was found pouring some inflammable liquid over the garments stocked in the godown and later setting it on fire.
The suspect was also seen coming out from the factory following the fire, and was later identified as Ajaz Ahmed, a former employee of the garment factory.
It is being said that the worker had been a part of the factory for two months and was asked to leave the job after he demanded more piece rate for making a suit. He was staying on the rooftop of the factory.
He was missing after the fire incident,while his mobile phone is switched off.
