Investment in solar energy is a growing trend in Indian textile and apparel industry.
The latest name in the series is Panipat-based home furnishing giant Mahajan Overseas. The company has a state-of-art green factory, and is continuously investing in sustainable initiatives.
“We have installed a solar plant with a capacity of 90 kW and invested almost Rs. 40 lakh. As per our planning, this initiative will help us save approximately Rs. 8 lakh, and so in five years we will recover all our investments. From a long-term perspective, I can say that in 25 years, we should be able to save around Rs. 1.75 crore,” informed Pranab Mahajan, Director of the company.
He further added that sustainability is a never-ending process for the company and he wishes to do as much as possible to support the environment.
The company regularly takes small but interesting initiatives to support sustainability; for instance, recently it also put oxygen-generating indoor plants inside its premises.
The five-decade-old company works with many prestigious buyers and also has its brand ‘Maspar’.
