A relatively new player for the apparel industry, A.T.E. has in the nearly two years of its presence in this segment already created a name with many leading brands joining hands to strengthen the division. Yet, GV Aras, Director, A.T.E. Enterprises feels that there is a long way to go before they attain the stature that is associated with their name in textiles. “We are taking baby steps, as this industry and the mind-set of its players is very different from our core area of strength and we do not want to go too fast and then find that we have deviated from our basic objective to be a complete solutions company, associated with only leaders in every segment of the chain,” reasons Aras.
Leading the garment division at A.T.E. with his years of experience and exposure to the industry is KB Prasad, Business Head (Garment Division) who is happy with the way the division is shaping up. “There are many things that still need to be done, but our first concentration is to create credibility in the minds of the industry and the technology providers that we are, a company with a history of serving the textile industry with personal commitment,” says Prasad. The duo is confident that as the division grows each segment in the garmenting chain from cutting room to finishing and packaging will be addressed with the best of technology and service, which includes training facilities, technical support and knowledge sharing.
“The area where the maximum effort is still to be made is in training,” says Aras. The company only recently opened a training institute for circular knits with Karl Mayer in Ahmedabad and received a phenomenal response. “Even owners are coming forward for the executive course to understand how to get the best from the machine,” informs Aras. Though it is still early stages for the company in garments, the aim is to be as well reputed and respected in this industry as they already are in textiles.
