Exporters in Gautam Buddh Nagar are facing the heat of receiving notices from the customs department, especially in matters which are 5 to 10 years old.
Through these notices, exporters are being asked to submit various documents like shipping bills, Bank realisation certificates (BRC), invoices etc., failing which necessary actions will be taken against them.
As per industry insiders, so far a large number of exporters have received these notices and they are under pressure to clear these matters by coordinating with various offices of customs departments. It is believed that technical issues in the server of the customs department are increasing challenges for exporters.
Rajeev Bansal, an apparel exporter and National Vice President of Indian Industry Association (IIA) said that to get incentives under Government schemes, exporters have to share information with the customs department about every payment they receive from their overseas buyers. And this takes place through RBI. So rather than approaching a large number of exporters, the customs department can take this information from RBI.
Many exporters don’t even have such old records themselves because of which sharing such information is becoming cumbersome for them.
Lalit Thukral, President, Noida Apparel Export Cluster also insisted that the customs department should improve its server and that exporters should not receive these kinds of notices.
It is important to mention here that there are hundreds of garment exporters in Gautam Buddh Nagar exporting garments across the globe.
