Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on her recent visit to Tirupur revealed that the government is in the process of weeding out unnecessary and unwanted rules and regulations as part of its efforts to improve ease of doing business in the country. Some of these laws were enacted during the British era and have now become bottlenecks in the business atmosphere as they complicate the procedures. Sitharaman was visiting Coimbatore and nearby hosiery town of Tirupur to highlight Prime Minister’s “Make in India” project and to know the problems and issues being faced by the manufacturing and textile sectors.
