According to Ministry of Commerce and Industry (India), the country has exported US $ 1.29 billion worth of garments during January ’21, noting 10.82 per cent Y-o-Y decline.
Knitted garments decreased marginally by 0.39 per cent to US $ 637.50 million, while the decline in woven segment was much bigger – 19 per cent – to US $ 658.69 million.
USA remained the top exporting destination with US $ 367.58 million worth of apparel shipment, marking 8.60 per cent drop on Y-o-Y basis.
UAE and UK secured 2nd and 3rd spot and constituted US $ 121.46 million and US $ 119.78 million worth of imports, respectively, from India.
The apparel shipment to UAE dropped by 11.21 per cent, while the drop was 21 per cent in the UK market.
However, the exports of apparels tumbled as a whole; there were some countries where India noted good growth and set high hopes for the rest of the year.
