USA’s imports of undergarments increased marginally by 0.35 per cent in January-October ’24 to US $ 2.98 billion, as per OTEXA’s official data. Further analysis done by Apparel Resources signals India’s dominance in terms of percentage growth.
Between January and October 2024, the total value of undergarments imported by the USA from India surged by 12.08 per cent to US $ 310.08 million up from US $ 276.67 million in 2023.
India recorded the highest growth rate among the countries even in October month, with exports increasing by 23.40 per cent to US $ 40.58 million compared to US $ 32.88 million in October 2023.
Vietnam, the top exporter of undergarments to the USA, grew by merely 1.40 per cent in January to October 2024 period to ship US $ 612.77 million worth of undergarments to the USA.
On one hand, India saw robust growth and Vietnam grew marginally, while other exporting destinations such as China and Bangladesh saw declining exports.
Bangladesh’s undergarments shipments to the USA sank 1.63 per cent to US $ 309.26 million, while China’s shipments to USA marginally plunged by 0.10 per cent to US $ 573 million in January to October 2024.
