
According to International Labour Organisation (ILO), the government of Bangladesh has finished inspecting 1000 ready-made garment(RMG) factories to check structural, fire and electrical safety provisions. Out of the 3,508 export-oriented RMG factories throughout the country, 2,904 factories have been inspected till date of which 1,000 by the government’s national initiative under the Tripartite Plan of Action, supported by the ILO with support from Canada, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom and further 1904 factories by the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety and the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety. 604 factories still remain to be inspected by the 31st July deadline.
