
At the National Assembly, Minister for Textile and Industry Abbas Khan Afridi informed that the Government of Pakistan has decided Rs. 3,000 per 40 kilograms as the support price of cotton. The Minister told that the Government is committed to save the interest of the farmers and has instructed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to buy the cotton from the farmers. In the first 8 months of on-going fiscal year, cotton yarn imports from all countries have increased from 12 million kilograms to 23.9 million kilograms as compared to same period of the previous year.
