
The Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC), Pakistan will set up an international apparel university to impart vocational training to Pakistani labour of the Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park in Lahore.
According to PIEDMC Chairman Malik Tahir Javaid, the 1536-acre Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park, situated at the Lahore-Sheikhupura Motorway, will be a hub of industrial activities and this university would impart training to Pakistani labour, institutions and various industrial disciplines through training courses.

He further added that two leading Chinese universities, including Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Tianjin Ploy Technique University, will provide assistance in setting up the apparel university, which will include training courses of international standard to provide skilled labour to the Chinese companies at the Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park. This university would prove a milestone in providing skilled labour to the garments, apparel and textile sector in Pakistan, as stated by the PIEDMC Chief.
Pakistan’s textile industry contributes 57 per cent to the country’s exports and the recently announced Textile Policy is all set to make the textile sector even competitive and sustainable, while increasing dependence on special factors for comparative advantage and increase adoption of new technologies.
