The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), in association with Indian Embassies, High Commissions & Consul General Offices in Africa and West Asia & North African (WANA Region) countries, organised a virtual Buyer Seller Meet (BSM) of Indian Handicrafts Manufacturers & Exporters with buyers from Gulf, Middle Eastern and African Countries.
The event, held from 15 to 18 February 2022, saw the presence of 100 manufacturers and exporters from across India,who displayed wide range of handcrafted products.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar, DG EPCH, said “The participants have got encouraging response and this initiative will pave way for increased business in these regions. This Virtual BSM has been organised with the objective of match-making on virtual platform of Indian companies with the Gulf, Middle East & African buyers and companies interested in sourcing handicrafts products including fashion and lifestyle products from the countries in Africa and WANA Region and other markets thereby creating a ‘Brand Image’ of Indian handicrafts amongst buyers and importers.”
Raj Kumar Malhotra, Chairman, EPCH welcomed all to the event and informed that this Virtual BSM provided a viable marketing option to the exhibitors and buyers.
EPCH has already organised more than 12 virtual fairs and BSMs.
Notably, the export of handicrafts during 2020-21 was Rs. 25,679.98 (US $ 3,459.75 million), while the estimated export during April-January 2021-22 was Rs. 27,146.41 crore (US $ 3,651.14 million).
