FICCI’s TAG-2012 one day conference slotted for 10th October 2012 at the Hotel Intercontinental, Mumbai is going to focus on theme, “Thriving in the Era of Constant Change: Challenges In Textile & Apparel Industry”.
The conference will be addressing policy and economic issues such as trends in fibre demand, consumption and availability, innovation in products and machinery, new sourcing strategies in volatile market, building efficient supply chain, etc. in the Textile and Apparel Industry and challenges in improving India’s share in the international trade and improving the contribution in the domestic sales. It will bring together the key stakeholders of the industry to share their views and experiences on this important subject.
FICCI’s initiative of conducting such a conference with brain storming sessions has always been well attended by the textile professionals, both the middle and top management. Alok Industries is partner for this event.
The relevance of the conference is highlighted by the fact that the Indian textile industry is witnessing a lot of changes and challenges across the entire value chain from fibre to retail. Some of the key challenges include fragmented structure with the dominance of the small scale sector, high volatility in the fibre prices, high power costs and rising interest rates and transaction costs, logistical disadvantages in terms of shipping costs and time, lack of foreign investments as the industry is not investment-friendly and impact of euro zone crisis as Europe is one of the major trading partners.
