Automated cutting, spreading and marker making technology together make available to the management the necessary tools to optimize time to cut, labour requirements and above all saving on the fabric consumption. This means that many of the issues that have the potential to restrict the throughput and daily sewing can be sorted with ease. Morgan Technica is one such company which has in its portfolio all the technologies and solutions for cutting room optimization.
The Italian manufacturer of cutting, spreading, plotter, CAD & CAM software and other similar technologies, establishment in 2008, Morgan Technica has achieved commendable respect and admiration for its technologies and services. “Morgan has been doing extremely well in the Indian market. At a time when the industry was not ready to accept advance technologies, due to the slowdown, people have actually realized the significant gains in terms of the productivity and fabric saving from these advanced technologies,” avers Anandakumar D, MD, G. A. Morgan Dynamics – the Asian representative of Morgan Technica.
The popularity of the technology by Morgan can be measured by the fact that it has around 66 spreaders, 70 CAD systems, 42 plotters and 22 cutters installed in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka till date. “In India we have installations in more than 40 companies like Raymond, Bombay Rayon, Jockey, Shahi Exports, Orient Craft, Scotts Garments, Premdurai Export and SportKing etc.,” adds Anandakumar.
The company showcased the Fox 50 spreader at the fair, claiming that it was five years ahead of the present spreading technologies.Everything has been created to allow the operator to feel comfortable – the design is modern and ergonomic, the functionality is user-friendly, thanks to the interactive computer touch on board. The PVC belt allows a more even laying up, wrinkle free, even with most difficult materials. An electronic device is available to check and eliminate in real time the fabric tension, for a real tension-free spreading. By using the special folded device with motorized spiral roller, Morgan Fox 50 can spread open folded knit fabric with unique quality result. All movements are electronically and digitally controlled, with an option to create and store customized profiles where each profile can be related to a specific type of material, and simplifies the machine programming and setup.
The machine has a maximum speed of 100 metres per minute and can spread width from 180-230 cm. The spreading can be done with and without end catchers with automatic edge alignment by photocells. The machine generates the fabric usage report with the possibility to store 24 different parameters profiles. Now the actual edge, the spreader has, is the Cut Order Planning software that comes with it, explains Anandakumar, “The MD COP-cut order planning can be integrated with the operations of ERP, fabric storage, marker office, production office and cutting room. The program automatically generates various options of the cut order plan with preliminary estimation for each option’s relative fabric consumption, offering all the necessary information to enable the manager of taking the best and most suitable decision every time.” Another high point of the cut order planning software is its ability to handle multi-colour multi-style cut order plans intelligently and can also be programmed to start a new roll from the exact location where the previous fabric roll has ended.
Constant evolution has always been the forte of Morgan Technica and the same is reflected in their products. All the products by this Italian giant has a built-in computer instead of the usual control panel, empowering the user to communicate with the spreading machine directly through the solutions like Cut Order Planning software, removing manual feeding of information. Hence, a cutting machine would be able to take instructions directly from the CAD software and a spreader would take the instruction from the Cut Order Planning software. “This would make real time production monitoring and planning of the cutting room possible, in turn optimizing the whole operation and make us a one-stop-shop solution provider of cutting and spreading technologies,” concludes Anandakumar.
