A prevalent trend that will be seen a lot more than before in the forthcoming seasons is the peplum.
Popping up everywhere on the catwalks of Milan, Paris, New York, and London, the traditional look of the peplum is now being adapted to a more wearable form whether it be dresses, maxis, midis, jackets or tops, perfect to create a corporate and evening wear look.
Some of the most commercial variations of the silhouette included the belted form at Etro, jackets at Moschino and subtle versions incorporated into tops at Versace and fancier versions at Bottega Veneta and Dsquared. The peplum can be a flare sprouting from the waistline of a jacket, dress, top or a skirt.
While the flare needs to be toned down for a top or a skirt, a more ruffled piece of fabric can be used for a dress or jacket. Retailers that already have put the trend into production include the likes of H&M, J-crew and Asos.
