Datacolor®, the US-based premier in colour management solutions and colour communication technology, recently announced the availability of Datacolor 850 and 550 – the company’s new range of benchtop spectrophotometers. The new releases follow closely on heels of Datacolor 800 and 500 spectrophotometers which were released last October.
The benchtop spectrophotometers are of immense relevance to colour professionals in textile industries for reflectance and transmission measurement. Positioned by the company as the ‘market’s only true-close tolerance spectrophotometer for both reflectance and transmission measurement’, Datacolor 850 facilitates correct communication of colour digitally throughout the supply chain. It also features a built-in digital camera for precise sample placement and is fully backward compatible with Datacolor’s prior generations of instruments. Datacolor 550 is an economical addition to the series of benchtops, offering accurate transmission and reflectance measurement.

Both the models come with LCD screens that display instrument settings and calibration status, offering users superior confidence in measurement results. In addition, an Ethernet port now allows for simultaneous connection of multiple computers to the same instrument. With an embedded processor, diagnostic data can now be easily shared with Datacolor Support, resulting in faster issue resolution. Measurement speed within a global Citrix or Terminal Server environment is also substantially improved.
Elaborating on the new releases Diane Geisler, Global Director of Product Management, Datacolor shared, “With the embedded processor and advanced algorithms, users see at least a 25 per cent reduction in measurement time and a quantifiable improvement in throughput.”
