Among the few technology suppliers who had a comprehensive range of technology to offer, Mehala was one of the most sought after stalls at the GTE Bangalore fair. Talking to Team StitchWorld, S. Carthic, Managing Director, Mehala was confident that 2012 could be the year of recovery for the industry if manufacturers concentrate towards technology upgradation and operation optimization. “Given the current economy, globalization and competitive pressures, I would still say that not only is it possible for apparel manufacturers to get through this economic storm but also possibly grow.
However, there is no single solution for success, there has to be a combination of solutions, under which system efficiency and technology upgradation are both required,” reasons Carthic. The company displayed machines from Duerkopp Adler, SmartMRT, Siruba, Topcut Bullmer, JAM and Orbito, all unique solutions for niche operations at GTE Bangalore. While Siruba was present with a complete set of sewing machines for varied apparel products, JAM showcased the double head fully automatic pocket setter machine – the JT767FA, which is claimed to be world’s fastest double colour pocket setter with a productivity of 2400 pockets per eight hours.

Mehala has been very careful in selecting the technology it represents. “We only work with a product that we are confident about and have the technical expertise in, to support after sales,” says Carthic. Duerkopp Adler, which is a well-established player in India for high-end automated sewing machines, is also a relatively new partner for Mehala; however, the positive feedback has been very encouraging.
Since 1935, Duerkopp Adler has been producing excellent automates for button holing machine be it with or without eye for leather garments or the knits. Their experience has been focused on producing automates for button holing machine and now this German sewing machine manufacturer has come with a new machine for button holing with 2 thread eyelet which they showcased at the recently concluded GTE Bangalore.
The manufacturer claims that by using this machine the cycle time can be reduced by 20 per cent (which means approximately 4 seconds/buttonhole) making them faster than their competitors in the market. The company has improved the software of the machine making it run at a faster 2500 RPM. The new machine is equipped with gimp thread detection to secure the quality of the thread to which a thread catcher is also provided for optimum quality. The machine provides improved reliability of short thread ends due to stepped clam openings giving safer button holes as the machine comes with a double stitching option and is fitted with new display function which allows the operator to read the data much better and in clearer way.
