To cater to the increasing demand for taller cutting machines, especially from automobile industry and its suppliers, upholstery industry, processors of non-woven, cotton, insulating material and other voluminous flat goods, Assyst Bullmer, one of the leading providers of manufacturing, IT and CAD/CAM solutions, recently launched the Sirius 1000 machine, a high-performance multi-ply cutter with automatic material feed.
Based on the already popular ProcutXL 7501, Sirius 1000 offers a ply height of 75 mm and has been designed to handle a ply height of up to 100 mm or 10 cm, even at an effective speed of 20 m per minute. The machine uses its unique design of high vacuum distribution in the cutting bed to guide the knife for precise cutting of laminated materials, insulating materials and other voluminous flat fabrics such as foam.
The machine uses a bristle bed with vacuum and polythene across the top layer to hold the materials down enabling more parts to be cut per hour. Special guidance of the vacuum flow ensures that the surface pressure for the cutting materials is evenly spread while compressing and thus displacements within the amount of layers are avoided. The performance of the vacuum pump has been improved in comparison to ProcutXL to achieve a higher efficiency while cutting soft materials; user can compress voluminous materials up to 30%, thereby adding more ply height, and hence increased cutting capacity.
Another distinctive feature is the adaptive guidance of the knife in the z-axis (tangential axis). Deflections of the knife, which occur due to cutting forces, are automatically cleared during the cutting process. This leads to a very high fitting accuracy from the upper to the lower ply in particular for soft materials. In addition, the lateral knife guidance, the knife back and the guidance of the pressure foot have been strengthened.
The cutting table includes a CNC contol unit at the cutter bridge with an industrial PC offering Windows XP operating system and cutter control. Also available are real-time graphics, marker and parameter files and automatic marker linkage. Automatic correction of lay package position and automatic calculation of cutting window are also provided for.
The cutting window length of a standard version of Sirius 1000 is 1800 mm, with a conveyor clearance length of 1850 mm and the working widths offered range from 1600 mm to 2200 mm.
