VICUNHA TEXTIL, world renowned denim manufacturers, is one of the largest cotton consumers with their yearly cotton usage of more than 100,000 tonnes out of which 20 per cent is recycled.
VICUNHA TEXTIL, world renowned denim manufacturer, recycles more than 5,000 tonnes of cotton every year with zero landfill from the 100,000 tonnes of cotton used by the company each year at their five plants located in Brazil, Ecuador and Argentina. The recycling operation, certified by GRS – Global Recycling Standard, is done entirely in-house and for the company’s own consumption. Through the process, it produces 60,000 metres every day.
Furthermore, the ‘Brazilian Responsible Cotton’ used by the company is Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) approved – a non-profit organisation which looks after the global standards for Better Cotton, and represents nearly 5 per cent of the total BCI cotton planted worldwide.

It may be mentioned here that VICUNHA is a fully vertically integrated company, taking care of all processes right from spinning to finishing, with full control of traceability of their cotton, a growing concern of buyers. By the use of barcodes, the company provides information of each fabric roll and the production processes it has been through, machine by machine, right down to the square meter where the cotton was grown.
