The Ministry of Power has designated two branches of NSL Textiles Limited, located in Inkollu in the Bapatla district and Edlapadu in the Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh, for the execution of the Demonstration of Energy Efficiency Projects (DEEP), a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).
Regarded as the biggest demonstration/pilot project, DEEP aims to revolutionise the way companies use energy by implementing cutting-edge global technologies.
Secretary Milind Deora and other participants in a webinar were briefed on the effort by BEE Deputy Director General (DDG) Dr Ashok Kumar, who is in charge of a joint technical committee made up of representatives from BEE, EESL, and industry experts. They also expressed gratitude to Vishal Kapoor, CEO of EESL, for his prompt assistance in choosing designated consumers (DCs) for DEEP implementation.
By introducing innovations that are revolutionising the industry, the program aims to assist DCs in reaching their energy efficiency targets. According to Dr. Ashok Kumar, it is in line with BEE’s Perform, Achieve, and Trade (PAT) program, allowing firms to satisfy their Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) requirements. Throughout the first phase, 27 DCs will host nine cutting-edge technologies from EESL. These technologies have the potential to increase energy efficiency in important industrial sectors, but they have not yet seen widespread commercialisation. In order to reach a larger audience of DCs, EESL will then aggregate demand for these technologies.
