Well known for its assertive and enterprising sustainable initiatives, as well as clear intent on capitalising on growth opportunities even in the turbulent business landscape, Pratibha Syntex is one of the leading apparel export houses of India.
And now the company has come up with its much-talked about Greenfield project!
Recently Shivraj Singh Chouhan, CM of Madhya Pradesh (MP) did Bhoomi Poojan (ground-breaking ceremony) of its massive and much anticipated Greenfield project – under new factory called Pratibha Swaraj Pvt. Ltd. – that’s become more of a need, especially considering the company’s existing capacities have been fully booked by existing clients – in addition to seeing an increase in queries from new buyers.
“Our 20 years of experience, verticality, sustainable products, processes and practices give us the confidence to exceed the expectations of the customers worldwide. The expansion is a reflection of our urge to delight the buyers with sustainable innovations,” shared Nitin Seth, COO, Pratibha Syntex with Apparel Resources (AR) when we kicked off our conversation.
Push for Expansion…
Of late, there has been a buzz in the market regarding the shift in orders from China and this has now led many companies understand the importance of expanding capacities. Validating the same, Nitin told team AR that, more and more buyers are now looking towards India to increase their sourcing from the country due to all sorts of disruptions in the global supply chain. Justifying the capacity expansion of Pratibha, Nitin says, “Especially post-Covid, all the businesses that previously had their respective supply chains consolidated in a single region, felt the risks involved and they are working on a mitigation plan for the same by diversifying their sourcing base.”
The company’s Greenfield project abides by the international benchmarks of environmental consciousness and smart factory concepts. To be developed at the outlay of Rs. 115 crore, the plant will provide direct or indirect employment to around 4,000 people, in addition to the current employment to 6,500 people. Notably, 70 per cent of the total workforce of this green factory will be women.

So, where do orders come from? Pratibha reports that the company is getting more and more orders from its regular customer base in the USA and Europe who probably are shifting some sourcing programmes from China. “The key expectations of buyers now are reliability, traceability and flexibility. We are in a dynamic improvement process to ensure that we are able to meet such expectations,” said Nitin.
Activewear and sportswear segments see more queries
The company is mainly into knit segments and besides taking the advantage of this strength, the new factory will focus on sportswear too. “We are already doing activewear and now, the demand of sportswear is also on the rise and our experience of activewear and knits will add value to the sportswear segment. So far, we were mainly into cotton base products and are now moving more towards MMF,” said Nitin. The new factory will manufacture 100 per cent sustainable sportswear to cater to the international brands like Patagonia, Prana and Columbia Sports.
With addition of four new prestigious fashion brands and retailers in its clientele – Oysho, Columbia Sportswear, Sainsbury’s and Asda George makes the future outlook optimistic for Pratibha Syntex.
