Sanjeev Arora, Rajya Sabha MP has promised to take the matter pertaining to serious issues confronting the textile and knitwear sector to the central government. He made the assurance whilst visiting the Exhibition-cum-National Buyers and Sellers Meet arranged by the Knitwear and Apparel Manufacturers Association of Ludhiana (KAMAL) held at the Exhibition Centre, Sahnewal, near Ludhiana.
The exhibition showcases the most up-to-date knitwear and apparel from regional manufacturers and attracts national attention from buyers across the country.
During his visit, Arora engaged with various event organizers and industry stakeholders, who raised concerns about major challenges, most importantly, HSN Code classification irregularities and import malpractices such as misdeclarations that undermine local businesses.
Arora acknowledged the seriousness of these challenges and committed to representing the industry’s concerns at the national level. “The problems facing Ludhiana’s textile sector are justifiable and demand immediate action,” he said. “I will raise these matters, predominantly the HSN codes’ misuse, to the attention of the central government to ensure a timely resolution.”
Industry representatives welcomed his commitment and visit, expressing a sense of optimism that his advocacy could bring about a wide range of reforms and augmented protections for domestic manufacturers.
The event remains to serve a very important platform for industry networking, stressing innovation, and policy advocacy reforms that accelerate the expansion of India’s textile sector.
