Global warming is a concern for everyone across the globe and similar to the beginning of every winter season, Delhi-NCR is again facing issues due to pollution. Many garment factories, retailer offices, brands and buying houses are facing the heat of this as they have started facing challenges.
A major concern for many garment factories in NCR is the growing absenteeism as workers are taking leaves due to health issues.
“Employees are also suffering due to pollution. We are facing a decline in daily attendance of workers, especially the migratory workers,” shared Pawan Arya, Head of Operations, Head of Operations, Gaurav International, Noida. Gaurav International is one of the leading apparel exporters of Delhi-NCR.
Nearly similar was the opinion of a few other garment factories in Gurugram and Faridabad.
In a discussion with Apparel Resources, various industry representatives shared that their factories are distributing masks and motivating workers to use them.
Even though though at a mid-level, attendance is currently not impacted but the coming days can have more challenges for the industry as the Government can announce an Odd-Even rule to limit vehicles on the roads.
Various industry leaders and professionals are raising their voices on social media. Riju Jhunjhunwala, CMD of RSWM Ltd. wrote on X, “Everyone – go electric (especially in Delhi) issued in public interest.”
Swapnil Srivastav, Founder, Kidbea shared his concern on Linkedin “It’s time for all of us to stand together and demand immediate, impactful action from the authorities to address this worsening situation. We can’t afford to stay silent—our lives and our future depend on it. Let’s push for change before it’s too late.”
Kidbea, a growing sustainable kid’s fashion brand, is using air purifiers in its office. “We at Kidbea, are doing our best to protect our employees and workers at all cost,” he said.
