Anew textile policy will soon be introduced by the Andhra Pradesh government. The government wants to bring in US $ 1.18 billion in investments for the textile industry.
On Tuesday, 26th November, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu presided over a review meeting at the Secretariat about the new textile policy.
The Chief Minister requested that the staff submit the agreed draft policy to the Cabinet as soon as possible. In addition, Naidu examined the Leather Policy and recommended more discussion.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stressed that the new policy needs to be more successful than the 2018–2023 program and recommended that it should provide many job opportunities at the local level, especially for women.
By providing incentives, the policy seeks to generate 2 lakh job possibilities, with a special emphasis on weaving, processing, clothing, and integrated units. For women, minorities, BC, SC, and ST, the strategy will offer additional incentives and capital subsidies.
