As the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to stay indoors as much as possible, people have now begun to accept it as a reality and have started to live in the ‘new normal’.
Health-conscious consumers have turned to virtual fitness workout sessions with professional coaches. As a result of this change, a surge in the demand for online shopping of activewear and fitness gear products has been noticed in India lately.
NorthAlp, one of India’s leading online shopping stores exclusively dedicated to sports activewear and fitness gear sections, informed that they have witnessed a staggering 300 per cent increase in sales.
The company further underlined that fitness wear, shoes and fitness products are in huge demand in the country.
Vijay Kannan, Managing Director India, NorthAlp, shared with IANS that the company is “experiencing a high online demand for activewear and fitness products.”
Revealing figures, the company highlighted that during the lockdown period, 40 per cent of its sales were for activewear, 30 and 13 per cent for yoga mats and footwear, respectively, followed by fitness accessories.
Fitmoda, a women’s activewear e-commerce store, too observed tremendous increase in sales.
