For the Indian market, Amazon India has introduced a new vertical called “Bazaar” that will sell value-priced fashion and leisure items via the company’s Android app. During its early launch period, a limited subset of app users is being targeted by the promotion of the new vertical.
The purpose of Amazon India’s Bazaar is to serve customers who want to shop for the best deals in one location. The vertical is specialised in unbranded products and offers a range of product categories, such as watches, jewellery, luggage and travel equipment, apparel, footwear, and accessories.
Free delivery was Bazaar’s first promotion for items purchased through the app. Additionally, customers can pay with cash on delivery and receive five-day returns, which is particularly well-liked in more remote locations.
As the products on Bazaar are generally cheaper than on Amazon India’s main site, delivery times are expected to take longer, said reports. Bazaar will compete with other Indian value e-commerce platforms including homegrown platform Meesho and Flipkart’s value app Shopsy.
