Amazon Prime Day sale 2020 that begins today will, of course, be the e-commerce major’s first Prime Day event in the new normal.
Akshay Sahi, Head of Prime, Amazon India, mentioned that the company decided to go ahead with the Prime Day event after a lot of discussions.
“Life has to go on. Sellers have to get back on their feet,” he further said.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way of operations for most businesses – shifting the focus from offline to online.
The 2-day event which has gone live today will be operated from a virtual operations room instead of a real one.
Thousands of employees are all set to coordinate the sales from their homes.
The company has also defined strict hygiene protocols for its employees involved with processes like packing, sorting and delivering.
Other substantial changes in this year’s Prime Day sale include no Bollywood dancing, costume parties, endless supply of Indian street foods and foot massages.
The US edition of Amazon Prime Day sale, which used to happen in the month of July previously, has now been postponed to a later date which is yet to be announced.
