Sources claim that Amazon is about to introduce a new vertical with reasonably priced, non-branded lifestyle and fashion items. The action is viewed as part of Amazon’s plan to draw in value-conscious Indian customers and combat its sluggish growth.
Sellers are already being invited to post non-branded products like jewellery, shoes, and clothing that are priced under Rs. 600 on the new Amazon Bazaar programme.
With the launch of Bazaar, Amazon is attempting to gain traction in India’s rapidly growing fashion and lifestyle e-commerce industry by competing with other e-commerce companies such as Walmart-owned Flipkart, Reliance’s Ajio, and SoftBank-backed Meesho.
Additionally, Amazon is thinking about not charging sellers any referral fees, which is important for goods with low average selling prices. Under pressure from rapid commerce platforms, the e-commerce behemoth is also allegedly in the early stages of discussions to permit delivery of specific products within a few hours. In addition to talking with brands and sellers about accelerating delivery, Amazon is also considering hyperlocal delivery possibilities.
