
Clothier American Apparel has appointed Paul Charron as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors.
Charron has previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Liz Claiborne (now known as Kate Spade & Co) for 11 years until his retirement in 2006. He will be one of three new directors joining the American Apparel’s board. Another addition to the board will be Susan Davidson, who runs a fashion boutique named Scoop and design house Zac Posen. She has also worked with Bloomingdale’s and Liz Claiborne. Bruce Fetter, who runs women’s luxury knitwear retailer St. John Knits, will also be coming on board.

The company is making these organizational changes to be back on track, as it has been struggling to do well in the recent past. In October last year, the retailer filed for Chapter 11 and the restructuring pact handed almost 100 per cent control to its largest bondholders in exchange for eliminating more than US $ 200 million in bonds, a leading daily reported.
American Apparel is a US-based clothing manufacturer, designer, distributor, marketer and retailer. Founded by Dov Charney in 1989, it is a vertically integrated company, one of the largest apparel manufacturers in North America.
