The Bear House, a men’s apparel and accessories brand specializing in smart casual wear, has secured an investment of approximately US $ 346,000 (Rs. 3 crore) on the television program Shark Tank India. The deal, finalized on the March 13th episode and broadcast on Sony LIV, involved a combination of equity and debt funding from investor Namita Thapar.
The investment structure includes US $ 115,000 (Rs. 1 crore) in exchange for a 1 per cent equity stake in the company, and an additional US $ 230,000 (Rs. 2 crore) provided as debt. The Bear House, co-founded by Tanvi and Harsh Somaiya, presented their business model to a panel of investors, which included Namita Thapar, Anupam Mittal, Aman Gupta, Viraj Bahl, and Kunal Bahl. The brand’s financial performance and growth projections were highlighted, with the company forecasting net revenues exceeding US $ 16.13 million (Rs. 140 crore) for the current year, accompanied by a year-on-year growth rate exceeding 40 per cent.
The Bear House, which began as a passion project in 2017, focuses on providing men’s clothing and accessories designed for a blend of professional and social settings. The brand emphasises quality and minimalist designs, drawing inspiration from European fashion. Currently, the company sells its products through its website, mobile app, and various online marketplaces, including Myntra, Flipkart, Ajio, Tata Cliq, Nykaa, and Amazon. It also has a growing physical retail presence, including stores in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, and plans to expand to other major Indian cities.
The investment is intended to support the brand’s expansion efforts, both online and in physical retail locations, as well as to fund marketing initiatives. The Bear House is also exploring partnerships with quick-commerce platforms like Zepto to further expand its distribution network.
