
Apparel retailer Bonmarché has unveiled its full year results. In the 52 weeks to 26 March, the retailer’s total revenue surged by 5.3 per cent to £ 188 million compared to £ 178.6 million in 2015. Its store like-for-like sales zoomed 0.7 per cent and online sales surged 3.6 per cent. Profits before tax plunged to £ 9.6 million compared to £ 12.4 million last year.

In the period under review, the retailer opened stores at 20 new locations which contributed to £ 4.7 million additional sales. “Bonmarché’s performance for the year has been achieved amidst the difficult trading conditions widely reported across the retail sector. We have emerged from this period with a clear focus on our five key strategic pillars for growth” said Beth Butterwick, Chief Executive, Bonmarché, adding, “With significant improvements for the benefits of our customer, we are focused on driving our modernisation plan over the coming year. We firmly believe that with its unique position as a niche retailer, focused on catering for the mature female demographic, Bonmarché is well placed for the future.”
Bonmarché operates around 380 stores nationwide, and employs over 4,000 people. It is the UK’s largest budget fashion retailer selling womenswear in a wide range of sizes, especially plus size clothing.
