Sports and athleisure footwear company Campus Activewear has appointed Rakesh Thakur as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP), strengthening its leadership team as it focuses on profitable growth, financial discipline and business expansion.
Thakur brings around 23 years of experience in finance and business leadership across consumer-oriented companies. His previous organisations include boAt, Hindustan Unilever, GSK Consumer Healthcare, Samsung India and PepsiCo India. Before joining Campus Activewear, he was Group CFO at boAt, where he worked closely with the founders, CEO and board on financial strategy and business performance.
At boAt, Thakur’s responsibilities included improving profitability and EBITDA, strengthening cash flows and working capital, reducing debt and enhancing financial governance. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance positions at Hindustan Unilever and GSK Consumer Healthcare, gaining experience in finance transformation, restructuring, supply chain strategy and business integration.
The appointment comes as Campus Activewear continues to expand its business. During Q1 FY27, the company posted revenue of Rs 385.2 crore, representing a 12.2% year-on-year increase. Sales volumes grew 11.7% to 57.1 million pairs, while profit after tax increased 17.7% year-on-year to Rs 26.1 crore. The Women’s and Kids’ segments were among the key contributors to growth during the quarter.
In his new role, Thakur will work with the company’s leadership and board across areas including financial efficiency, margin improvement, cash generation, capital allocation and governance. He will also focus on strengthening financial systems and processes to support Campus Activewear’s expansion.
Campus Activewear currently has seven manufacturing facilities with a combined annual assembly capacity of 30.7 million pairs. The company has a retail presence of more than 31,000 touchpoints spread across over 850 districts in India.
