
American retail clothing chain Citi Trends’s total sales in the third quarter went up by about 8 per cent to US $ 157 million, with comparable store sales increasing 6.7 per cent. In merchandise category, accessories were up 18 per cent on top of a 13 per cent increase in 2013’s third quarter. Home was up 11 per cent this year and up 15 per cent last year. Its SG&A expenses increased 10 basis points to 36 per cent. SG&A expenses included a legal settlement of US $ 1.7 million in the third quarter. The legal settlement as a per cent of sales was equal to 110 basis points while all other expenses declined by 100 basis points.
